Marquee Types

There are two types of Marquee: traditional pole marquees and pavilions or frame tents.

Many companies only use one type. At White Horse we have both and so are not biased toward one particular design.

TRADITIONAL MARQUEES

Traditional marquee

Our traditional pole marquees have canvas roofs and are of the ‘pull-up type’. This means they can be constructed within their own area and the roof is 21’ high.

The effect is a big airy space which can be nice and cool on a hot day. They are supported by poles normally every 20’ and guy ropes which surround the marquee.

The main disadvantage of a traditional pole tent is that it is more vulnerable to adverse weather.

PAVILIONS AND FRAME TENTS

Pavilion

Pavilions are built on an aluminium frame with PVC covers. Sometimes called clearspan marquees.

We use Röder tents made in Germany and considered to be the Mercedes Benz of tents. Pavilions are very strong and weather proof. Their lower roof makes them easier to heat and there are no poles or guy ropes giving a more efficient use of space.

We would recommend pavilions for the winter months and would suggest that you choose your tent for the ‘look’ that you wish to create in the summer, but nothing is impossible and we have done many weddings in January in traditional marquees.
